Focus Areas
FIKIR's research initiatives and areas of expertise is currently centred on the four key areas:

Education
FIKIR monitors developments in education policy by the Malaysian government, particularly the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Higher Education It also keeps a pulse on trends and education policies elsewhere in the world.

Politics and Governance
As the political situation determines the outcome of public policy, FIKIR takes a keen interest in Malaysia’s domestic politics, analysing potential outcomes and implications in political movements. FIKIR also examines the effectiveness in good governance, scrutinising all three branches of government.

Economics
Conducive economic conditions provide nations the foundation for the pursuit of wealth and socioeconomic empowerment. With such vital importance, the monitoring of economic indicators is necessary in determining the effectiveness of policy decisions in an increasingly growing multipolar world and frequent disruptive change.

International Relations
In an interconnected and competitive world, events taking place beyond the borders of a country often have implications within (the Butterfly Effect) - domestic policy cannot ignore these external geopolitical events. As a core focus area, FIKIR endeavours to make sense of how events abroad may have an impact on Malaysia and the region.
