About
On 26 October 2025, ASEAN leaders adopted the ASEAN Declaration on the Right to a Safe, Clean, Healthy and Sustainable Environment, affirming the importance of environmental protection for people’s rights and well-being, now and for future generations. The Declaration calls for stronger environmental governance, access to information, meaningful public participation and access to justice. An RPA is being developed to put these commitments into practice.
This consultative session provides an opportunity for environmental experts, leaders and practitioners to contribute views and recommendations to this process. Contributions may help to:
Identify challenges and gaps in realising the right to a safe, clean, healthy and sustainable environment;
Share concrete actions and good practices from Malaysia and across ASEAN;
